Navia Harp

NAVIA HARP FREE EDITION

Imperfect Beauty

A smaller sister of Navia Harp, the Free Edition has a taste of the full library. It contains the “Regular” program type with a single dynamic layer and a single round robin. The library comes with a single stereo mix that brilliantly exposes the soul of the full Navia Harp library. It’s the perfect type of library for less powerful systems and composer’s mobile rigs. It’s very lightweight, yet truly useful, and sounds great.

The Idea

Building on the success of the Zaria library, we decided to extend the concept to other instruments. Like Zaria, our goal with this library was to capture inspiring performances, where each note feels like a musical gem. We recorded both irregular and regular performances with varying dynamics and tempo changes. These samples, while imperfect, possess a unique beauty, allowing you to create complex performances effortlessly. Alongside the textures, you also get a fully playable harp for traditional compositions or to enhance experimental pieces.

THE INSTRUMENT

Navia Harp – Imperfect Beauty was recorded in Monochrom Studio, a renowned live space for neo-classical and jazz recordings. The talented Justyna Hebda performed the harp, with all recordings expertly engineered by Kamil Biedrzycki, who has extensive experience in film and game music recordings.

The Navia Harp Free Edition sample library offers:

A Single Regular program, providing traditional plucked articulations with one dynamic layer sample. The volume and tone are controlled by velocity to mimic natural dynamic behavior, along with single round robin samples. In comparison, the full Navia Harp library includes three dynamic layers and three Round Robins for expressive variations.

The Free Edition comes with a single orchestral mix (the full Navia Harp has six mixes), which works perfectly with many orchestral sample libraries. The harp is traditionally placed on the left side of the room.

Similarly to the full Navia Harp library, the free edition was created from the same recordings. It’s a combination of three sets of microphones: Close, Main, and Room, mixed along with a touch of Geophone signal to add more low-end. The Geophone was attached to the body of the harp, bringing out all sub-frequencies very clearly.
